2014 SKILLS ACQUISITION BENEFICIARIES: KOKO AND KADUNA

The youths are screened and selected for training placements in certified training centers. Training materials and allowances are provided for the beneficiaries and their trainers to ensure they are well equipped with the necessary learning tools. Close monitoring from the Stakeholders consultative committee which comprise the community leaders/representatives and Total Nigeria Plc, ensure trainees remain committed to successfully completing their training. At the completion of one year training, Total provides the beneficiaries with starter packs to set up businesses in their vocations. The starter packs are work tools recommended by the trainers, required to set up small scale businesses for the beneficiaries. The transformation of these youths into young entrepreneurs positively impact their communities by creating employment and imparting skills to other youths.

At the event of the starter packs handover, The Managing Director, Mr. Alexis Vovk in his address read by Mr. Albert Mabuyaku, Corporate Affairs Manager, reiterated Total Nigeria Plc’s continued efforts at achieving its shared ambition of sustainable development for its communities. He implored the graduates to remain focused and work hard towards contributing positively to the growth of their communities. The districts heads, communities leaders and family members of the beneficiaries who were present to witness the event expressed their appreciation to Total.

The trainers attested to Total’s sustained commitment towards the program. Past beneficiaries expressed their appreciation to Total for empowering them towards self sustenance. Most of them, already thriving entrepreneurs, advised the new intakes into the current year’s program “”to take their training seriously”, and urged the present beneficiaries “not to sell their starter packs as they will surely live to regret such acts”.

Total as part of its resolve to ensure the success of its Skills Acquisition Program, pays 2 years shop rent in advance as part of the starter packs for each of the beneficiaries. The 15 beneficiaries moved the starter packs into the ready shops to immediately commence their small scale businesses.

Total remains committed to better energy in its actions.
