Fuel Depots

The ever-increasing demand of fuel products and need to have the products available and nearer to the customers made Total Nigeria Plc to invest in sites and installation within the country. A large number of network stations, numerous industrial outlets and distribution plants and warehouses are in place to meet this need.

To meet the country's demand there is need to augment the supply of petroleum products from NNPC depots. Total Nigeria Plc has shown commitment in this respect by constructing three main depots. These depots are located in the Lagos area very close to the jetties for easy product reception.

All the depots are maintained in high safety standards with loading capacities designed to cope with the demand. Total Nigeria Plc is repositioning to meet future challenges of full deregulation by embarking on construction of additional storage tanks at Apapa terminal and Ibafon Depot. Plans are also in place for construction of a depot at Port Harcourt.

Apapa Terminal

This is Total Nigeria Plc oldest depot commissioned in 1956 to store all petroleum products including LPG and LPFO. It is located at No.6 Bonny road, Apapa, Lagos. The terminal receives products from Apapa jetty through underground pipelines of about 2km. The terminal has the largest LPG storage in West Africa. It has the latest fire fighting equipment with high safety awareness. The terminal achieved level 3 of International Small Site Safety Rating System (ISSSRS) certification in November 2004. Apapa Terminal is equipped to load 60 trucks of PMS per day both for local and bridging markets.

Ibafon Depot

This is an ultramodern depot located within Ibru Port Complex along Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, Lagos. It was commissioned in September 2001 to store PMS and AGO with the loading capacity of 40 trucks of PMS per day. The depot receives products from Ibru Jetty through dedicated product underground pipeline of about 1km. The depot has commenced the initial preparation towards ISSSRS certification. The latest fire fighting equipment is available at the depot.

Total Oando Joint Venture Depot

This depot is jointly owned by Total Nigeria Plc and Oando Nigeria Plc on a 50/50 basis. It was commissioned in year 2000 to store all white products.

The depot located at Apapa receives products from Apapa jetty through underground pipelines. It serves both local and bridging markets. It has a loading capacity of 60 trucks of PMS per day.
The depot is equipped with modern fire fighting equipment. Total Nigeria Plc is the managing partner.

Product Transportation

Petroleum product transport is a very vital aspect of our business hence we place a high premium on our product distribution network to ensure that this is safe, efficient, and that quality is not compromised in the process.

We have developed and put in place a comprehensive transportation policy based on our Safety First values and in line with our Health Safety Environment and Quality policy.

We have just recently completed a nation wide truck audit to guarantee that only high quality trucks are in our transport fleet.
